Frizz is not a hair type — it's a moisture problem. Hair that can't hold water swells in humidity, lifts its cuticle, and turns into a halo. Oils fight frizz two ways: sealing moisture inside and smoothing the cuticle shut.
The frizz-fighting lineup
Argan — the gold standard
The classic 'serum oil': smooths, shines, protects from heat, never crunchy.
Argan Oil
The definitive frizz serum, naturally
Camellia — for fine hair
The Japanese tsubaki secret: glassy gloss with zero weight — frizz control that survives fine, limp hair.
Camellia Seed Oil
Weightless gloss for fine hair
Coconut — for thick, porous hair
Penetrates and pre-fills the shaft so humidity has nothing to swell. Use as a pre-wash on thick, dry, curly hair.
Virgin Coconut Oil
Pre-wash defence for thick hair
The technique
- Pre-wash (weekly): coconut or argan through lengths, 1 hour before shampoo.
- On damp hair: 1–2 drops of argan or camellia, palms first, scrunched into mid-lengths and ends — never roots.
- Dry-finish: half a drop smoothed over the surface to lay down flyaways.
The mistake: applying oil to bone-dry hair as step one. Oil seals — so seal in water (damp hair), not air.
