About this oil

Technically a liquid wax — not an oil — Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-bah) is the closest plant-derived substance to human sebum, our skin's own natural oil. This is why it's the most universally tolerated carrier on the planet: it doesn't sit on top of skin, it integrates with it.

Fatty Acid Profile
What's inside

The Composition

Every carrier oil has a fingerprint — the specific fatty acids in specific ratios. This is ours.

ComponentRangeWhat It Does
Gondoic acid (C20:1)65–80%unique to jojoba; what makes it stable
Erucic acid (C22:1)10–20%long-chain monounsaturated
Oleic acid (C18:1)5–15%penetrates skin readily
Palmitoleic acid (C16:1)0–1%antimicrobial
Real Benefits
What it does

For Your Skin, Hair & Body

Not marketing claims — actual mechanisms.

01

Mimics Skin Sebum

Jojoba's molecular structure is closest to the sebum your skin produces. It tells your skin 'we have enough oil', which often calms overproduction in oily skin — and adds what's missing for dry skin. Same bottle, both directions.

02

Non-Comedogenic

Rated 2 on the comedogenic scale (0–5). It will not clog pores in the vast majority of skin types — including acne-prone.

03

Extremely Stable

Because it's a wax (not a triglyceride), Jojoba doesn't go rancid. Shelf-life is 24+ months at room temperature, unrefrigerated.

04

Vitamin E + B-complex Rich

Natural antioxidants protect skin barrier and slow oxidative damage from sun and pollution.

05

Anti-Inflammatory

Soothes irritation, mild rosacea, and post-shave skin without stinging.

06

Beard-Friendly

Softens coarse facial hair, conditions the skin beneath, and won't leave the heavy residue heavier oils do.

DEEP USE
In Practice

How to Actually Use It

Knowing what an oil does is one thing — knowing exactly how to use it is what gets results. Here is the full playbook.

In Practice

Face moisturizer (day)

3–5 drops in palms, warm with rub, press onto damp skin after toner. Won't shine through makeup.

Face oil (night)

5–7 drops, gently massage in upward motion. Locks in any serums applied before.

Hair serum

1–2 drops on damp ends after shower. Tames frizz, adds shine, won't weigh down fine hair.

Beard oil

3–5 drops into clean beard, comb through. Apply to skin underneath as well.

Makeup remover

Apply to a cotton pad, sweep gently — removes even waterproof mascara without dragging.

Cuticle treatment

1 drop per cuticle nightly. Heals dryness, encourages healthy nail growth.

Carrier for essential oils

10ml jojoba + 2–3 drops of essential oil = a safe, stable blend.

Our sourcing

Where This Oil Comes From

Brewoil sources from the Negev Desert region of Israel — the world's largest producer of cosmetic-grade jojoba. Our farms practice dryland cultivation (minimal irrigation), making this one of the most water-efficient crops in the carrier oil world. Seeds are pressed within 6 months of harvest to preserve wax-ester integrity.

FAQ
Questions

People Actually Ask

Why is jojoba called a wax and not an oil?
Because at a molecular level, it's a liquid wax — long-chain wax esters rather than triglycerides like olive or almond oil. Functionally on skin and hair it behaves like an oil, which is why it's grouped as a 'carrier oil'. The wax structure is actually an advantage: it's the reason jojoba doesn't go rancid like seed oils do.
Will it clog my pores?
Very unlikely. Jojoba is rated 2 on the 0–5 comedogenic scale. Even oily and acne-prone skin tends to tolerate it well — in fact, it often calms sebum overproduction by 'tricking' the skin into thinking it has enough oil. If you have a confirmed history of pore-clogging from oils generally, start with a small patch on the jawline for 5 days before facial use.
Can I mix it with other Brewoil oils?
Yes — and we encourage it. Jojoba is one of the best carrier oils to blend with heavier oils (castor, black seed) because it helps them spread and absorb without becoming greasy. A 50/50 jojoba+castor mix is a classic scalp treatment.
Is it safe to use during pregnancy?
Yes. Jojoba is one of the few oils with zero contraindication for pregnancy — including topical use on the belly to support stretch-mark prevention. We still recommend consulting your doctor for any product use during pregnancy.
Why is the price higher than supermarket 'jojoba'?
Most cheap jojoba is either refined (loses the natural antioxidants), diluted with cheaper oils, or 'jojoba-blend' (rarely more than 10% actual jojoba). Ours is single-ingredient, cold-pressed, with a publicly available lab COA per batch. The price reflects the actual cost of cosmetic-grade material plus third-party testing.
How do I know it's not refined or rebottled?
Real cold-pressed jojoba has a pale golden-yellow color and a faint, slightly nutty smell. Refined jojoba is water-clear and odorless. Our COA on every batch also shows acid value, peroxide value, and fatty acid profile — refined product would show different numbers.
Can I cook with it?
No. Jojoba is cosmetic-grade only — not edible. It's a liquid wax, not a digestible oil.

Frequently Asked

Will jojoba make my skin oilier?+

No — counterintuitively, it reduces sebum production by mimicking your skin's natural oil.

Is jojoba good for acne?+

Yes — comedogenic rating 2, non-clogging, balances oily skin.

Can I use it daily?+

Yes, twice daily as a face oil. Best applied to damp skin.

Why so expensive vs other oils?+

Jojoba plants grow slowly, yield low oil, and the oil is a unique liquid wax with 36+ month shelf life.
