Why oil controls frizz
When the outer layer of the hair (the cuticle) is rough and dry, humidity swells the strand and you get frizz. A thin film of the right oil flattens that cuticle, locks moisture in and keeps humidity out — the strand stays smooth and defined.
Less is more
Frizz control is about lightness. Heavy oils used in excess make hair greasy and limp. Use a few drops of a fast-absorbing oil on the mid-lengths and ends — never the scalp — as a finishing step.
The best oils for frizzy hair
1. Argan Oil
The gold standard for frizz — light, vitamin-E-rich and fast-absorbing. A couple of drops smooth and add shine instantly without weighing hair down.
2. Marula Oil
Ultra-light and antioxidant-rich — tames flyaways and adds gloss, ideal for fine hair that goes greasy easily.
3. Jojoba Oil
Mimics natural sebum and absorbs cleanly — balances and smooths without heaviness, great for daily use.
4. Flax Seed Oil
Rich in omega-3s that nourish and define — a good choice for curly, frizz-prone textures.
5. Camellia Seed Oil
A prized lightweight “hair oil” in East Asia — silky finish, deep shine, zero grease.
How to use
On towel-dried or dry hair, warm 2–4 drops in your palms and smooth through the mid-lengths and ends. Apply to damp hair before air-drying to prevent frizz forming, or to dry hair to tame it on the day. Keep it off the roots.
